Privacy policy

Path.ai is a free planner for life and career goals. This page explains, in plain words, what we keep about you, why, who helps us run the service, and how you can take your data with you or delete it.

Draft of 28 September 2026 · Takes effect [effective date] · For people in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand

The short version

  • You don't need a name, email address or password to use Path.
  • We ask your age once, to check you are 13 or older. Your account keeps only an age band (13–17 or 18+), your country, and a state or region if you picked one. If you type an age or a name into a plan, it is saved with that plan.
  • We save your plans, your daily check-ins, any answers you report, and counts of how much AI you used, so your plans are there next time and the service stays free.
  • What you type into a plan is sent to Claude, an AI made by Anthropic, to write your plan.
  • No ads. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for advertising.
  • You can export or delete everything at any time: open Settings, then Export my data or Delete my data.
  • If an account isn't used for 24 months, we delete it and everything in it automatically.

1. Who we are

Path.ai ("Path", "we", "us") is run by Feynman Labs Ltd, Floor 14, Dubai Science Park – South Tower, Dubai Design District, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. You can reach us at legal@feynmanlabs.com.

Path is made for people in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand who are at least the minimum age where they live: 13 in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada (14 in Quebec), 15 in Australia, 16 in Ireland and 18 in New Zealand. It is offered in English.

2. What we collect

When you start

  • Your age, once. We use it to check that you are 13 or older, then keep only your age band: 13–17 or 18+. Your exact age is not saved with your account.
  • Your country, and your state or region if you pick one. You choose them on the first screen (the app suggests a country from your browser's settings). We use them to check that Path is open where you live, to show the right crisis help lines and, later, to find nearby schools. For now Path is open only in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand: if you pick another country, the app tells you so and nothing is saved.
  • A random account number and a sign-in key. We create them for you. They are not linked to your name, email or phone.
  • Your OK to use the AI. Before the first AI request, the app tells you that your details go to Anthropic's AI and asks for your OK. We note which version of that notice you agreed to, and when.

We don't ask for your name, email, phone number or a password.

What you put into a plan

To build a plan, you tell Path about your goal and where you are now. Apart from the goal, every detail is optional. Depending on what you choose to fill in, a plan can include:

  • a name or nickname (you don't need to use your real name), the age you enter for that plan, and where you live (city, state or ZIP code);
  • your background, citizenship, budget, education, work experience, activities, languages, interests and values;
  • grades and subjects, and habits such as study hours, sleep, exercise and screen time;
  • height and weight, and personality sliders;
  • résumé text, if you import a résumé.

The age you type into a plan is saved as part of that plan, because the plan is built around it. It is separate from your account's age band.

What Path makes for you

  • Your plans: the routes, odds, schools, milestones, daily schedule and habits that Path writes for you.
  • Your check-ins: which habits you ticked off on which days, and the days you chose "A gentler day" (we keep the last 400 days).
  • Your settings: which plan is open, and a record of plans you deleted so your other devices delete them too.

Photos and files

If you add a photo of a transcript, report card or résumé, the photo is sent to the AI so it can read the text. We don't save the photo. Only what the AI read from it (for example your subjects and grades, or your résumé text) is added to your plan, where you can check and edit it. PDF résumés are read on your own device and the file is not uploaded.

Chat with your "twin"

When you chat, your message, a short summary of your plan and up to the last 10 messages of the conversation are sent to the AI to get a reply. We don't save chat messages on our servers. The conversation only exists on the open page and is gone when you reload the page or switch plans.

Before your message reaches the AI, our server checks it for signs that you might be in crisis (for example talk of suicide, self-harm, abuse or danger). If it finds any, the app shows help lines first. If your plan lists a US state, we also use it to add local help lines (for example YouthLine in Oregon). The AI reads your plan's location as part of the plan summary, so it can see your city and state if your plan includes them.

Each time help lines are shown, we add one to a daily count, split by age band and US state. The count has no link to you and none of your words. Some state laws ask chat services to report these numbers.

Reports

If you tap Report this answer, we save your report so a person can review it: which part of the app the answer came from, the reason you picked (wrong, harmful, unsafe, offensive or other), any note you add (up to 500 characters) and the text of the answer (up to 2,000 characters). If you are 13–17 and report a chat reply, we don't keep its text. Reports belong to your account: they are in your export and are deleted with your account.

Usage counts

For every AI request we record which part of the app asked (for example "routes" or "chat"), which AI model answered, how many words the AI read and wrote (measured in "tokens"), how many web searches it ran, an estimate of what it cost, and the time. We don't record what you wrote in these counts. We use them to apply the daily limits that keep Path free.

Technical information

  • Network address. Like every website, our server sees your IP address when your device connects. Our server logs keep only a shortened version of it (for most connections, the first two of its four numbers), and old logs are overwritten as new ones are written.
  • Sign-up counter. To stop people creating thousands of accounts, we count new sign-ups per network per hour. We store a scrambled code made from your network address, never the address itself, and old counts are cleared automatically, usually within a couple of hours.

We don't use analytics tools, advertising trackers or tracking cookies. We don't collect your precise location, contacts, microphone or camera. (The camera is only used if you choose to take a photo of a transcript.)

3. What stays on your device

The app keeps some things in your browser's storage so it works quickly and offline:

  • a copy of your plans and check-ins, and any changes waiting to be sent to our server;
  • your sign-in key and the number of the last account used on this device, so you can pick up where you left off;
  • display choices, such as the orb motion setting and the last screen you looked at;
  • if someone says they are under 13, a note that lasts 24 hours, so the age screen doesn't simply ask again. This note never leaves the device.

In the iPhone and Android apps, a copy of your sign-in key is also kept in the app's own storage on the phone, so you stay signed in. On iPhone, the phone's own backups (iCloud or a computer) include it: anyone who restores such a backup to another phone could open your plans. Keep your backups protected, or use Delete my data before you give a phone away. The Android app turns phone backups off for Path.

To remove all of it, use Delete my data in Settings, or clear this site's data in your browser.

Your browser also downloads the app's fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google sees your IP address and browser details when the fonts load. See Service providers.

4. How we use it

  • To build, save and sync your plans, and to show your progress.
  • To send your details to the AI so it can write your plan, answer your questions and read photos you add.
  • To keep you safe: to show crisis help lines, and to give people aged 13–17 extra protections (see Teens).
  • To apply daily limits and a spending cap, so the service stays free for everyone.
  • To stop abuse, such as automated sign-ups.
  • To review answers people report and to fix problems.

We don't: show ads, sell your information, share it for advertising, build marketing profiles, or use your plans or chats to train AI models.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only with companies that help us run Path, and only what they need to do that job. The full list is on Service providers.

Anthropic (the AI)
When you use an AI feature, Anthropic receives what that request needs: the details in your plan, your chat messages, or the photo you added. It does not receive your account number. For the "Edge" and "Map" sections, the AI may search the web for current information; those searches can include words from your plan, such as your goal or your state. Anthropic handles these requests under its commercial terms, which say it does not train its models on them [confirm current Anthropic terms], and it may keep them for a limited time to run its service and check for misuse [confirm retention period, or zero-retention agreement].
Our own AI computers (if used)
Some parts of the app can run on an AI model on computers we run ourselves instead of on Anthropic's service. Those requests stay with us: your details are processed on our computers and not saved there. If our computers are busy or down, the request goes to Anthropic instead. [operator: say which parts, if any, and where the computers are; confirm they keep no request logs; delete if none]
Our hosting and database providers
They run the computers and the database where Path and your saved plans live: Render (Render Services, Inc.), which runs both. They may not use your information for their own purposes.
When the law requires it
We may share information if the law requires it, or if we believe in good faith that it is needed to protect someone's life or safety. Because accounts are anonymous, we usually cannot tell who an account belongs to.
If Path changes hands
If Path is merged, sold or transferred, your information may move to the new operator, who must keep the promises in this policy or ask for your OK first. [counsel to confirm wording]

Public data we use, such as job data from O*NET and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and college data from College Scorecard, is downloaded by us in advance. Your searches are not sent to those organizations.

Some answers include links to the source of a fact. If you open one, you leave Path and that site's own privacy policy applies.

6. Where it is stored

Your saved plans, check-ins, reports and usage counts are stored in our database, run by Render (Render Services, Inc.) in the United States (Virginia). Information travels between your device and our servers over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. AI requests are processed by Anthropic [confirm processing location].

We back up the database in case something goes wrong. Render, our database host, keeps automatic backups for up to 7 days.

7. How long we keep it

Retention periods
WhatHow long
Your account, plans, check-ins, settings and reportsUntil you delete them, or until the account hasn't been used for 24 months. Then it is deleted automatically, with everything in it. Using the app on a device that is signed in counts as use.
BackupsDeleted data can stay in backups for up to 7 days, then it is gone.
Usage countsWhen your account is deleted, we remove the link to you and keep only the numbers (tokens, searches, cost, time), so our daily budget stays accurate. [set a deletion period for these unlinked counts]
Chat messages and photosNot saved by us.
Daily counts of crisis help shownCounts only, with no link to you. [set a period, for example 12 months]
Sign-up countersCleared automatically, usually within a couple of hours.
Server logs (shortened addresses)Overwritten as new logs are written. [state the maximum period once hosting is chosen]
AI requests at Anthropic[per Anthropic's commercial terms: confirm period]

8. Export, delete and your other rights

Export

Open Settings and tap Export my data. You get a file (JSON) with everything we hold for your account: your account record (age band, country, state or region, dates, and which AI notice you agreed to), every plan, your check-ins, your settings, your reports and your usage counts.

Delete

Open Settings, tap Delete my data and confirm. This deletes your account and everything in it from our servers straight away, and removes the copy on this device. It can't be undone. Backups roll off as described above.

Correct

You can change or remove anything in a plan at any time, or delete a single plan.

If you lose access

Because there is no email or password, we can't recover an account for you or prove that an account is yours. If your browser clears its storage or you lose your phone, the app may start a new account. The old one is deleted after 24 months without use. If you want a copy of your plans, export them from time to time.

Rights under state privacy laws

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information or of targeted advertising. The Export and Delete buttons do most of this instantly. We don't sell or share personal information and we don't do targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of; we still treat a browser's Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out. We will not treat you differently for using your rights. For anything else, write to legal@feynmanlabs.com. Because accounts are anonymous, we may need you to make the request from the device that holds the account. [counsel: confirm which state laws apply and the appeal process]

9. Teens (13–17)

If your age band is 13–17, Path adds extra protections:

  • Safer AI rules. The AI keeps everything age-appropriate. It won't discuss dating, sexual content, drugs, alcohol, vaping or gambling, and it tells you to involve a parent or guardian for anything about money, travel, meeting people in person or physical safety.
  • Time limits. By default, a session pauses after 1 hour, and use stops for the day after 2 hours.
  • AI reminders. The app reminds you that you are talking with an AI, not a person, when you start and every hour after that, and suggests taking a break.
  • No chat memory. The chat doesn't remember past conversations. Each conversation starts fresh.
  • Lower daily AI limits than adults, so the service stays balanced with the rest of your day.
  • Crisis help first. If a message suggests you might be in danger, the app shows help lines before anything else, including lines run for young people (in the United States, Teen Line and The Trevor Project).

Parents and guardians: Path doesn't have parent accounts yet. If you have questions about your teen's use, or want their data deleted, the quickest way is Settings → Delete my data on their device. You can also write to legal@feynmanlabs.com.

10. Children under 13

Path is not for children under 13. The age screen doesn't create an account for anyone who says they are under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we delete it. If you think a child under 13 is using Path, write to legal@feynmanlabs.com.

11. Sensitive details

Some things you could enter, such as height and weight, grades, personality sliders or what you say in chat, can be sensitive. All of them are optional. Only enter what you're comfortable with. We use them only to build your plan and never for advertising.

12. Security

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in keys are signed so they can't be forged. Our logs don't keep full network addresses, and our servers don't log what you type. Only people who run the service can reach the database, and only to keep it working. [describe staff access controls and encryption at rest once hosting is chosen]

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you in the app and follow the law on notice. [counsel: breach notice process]

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change matters a lot, for example using your information in a new way, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your OK.
